The transition to kindergarten is a critical component of kindergarten readiness and has important consequences for the child’s adjustment to the demands of kindergarten. To help facilitate a smooth and successful adjustment to kindergarten, Dr. Cappelloni designs, directs, and teaches Kindergarten Readiness programs during the year.
The underlying goal of these Kindergarten Readiness programs is to nurture all areas of early learning and development through exposure, exploration, and engagement. Children are introduced to many routines, materials, and activities that they will encounter in kindergarten. Understanding daily routines, playing, sharing, and working cooperatively with other children; learning to be a good listener and active participant; embracing new challenges; and developing greater independence, curiosity, social skills, and problem solving are all fostered.
There are many opportunities to develop early literacy skills, a love for reading, and a love for learning.
