Transitional kindergarten provides children with a transition year
Transitional Kindergarten (TK) provides children with an important transition year, bridging the child’s home, preschool, and kindergarten. TK provides positive and developmentally appropriate early childhood experiences that promote social competence, school readiness, and prepares children for the transition to the accelerated academic demands of kindergarten. In TK, children are engaged in active learning opportunities that optimize growth in all areas of early learning and development in an environment that is safe and accessible to all children.
Dr. Cappelloni works with both individual and small groups of children to prepare them for their TK year. She also works with children who are in the four-year-old range who are not or will not be enrolled in a TK program. Dr. Cappelloni introduces TK-age children to a wide range of topics and areas that will help prepare them for their TK or Kindergarten year.
Dr. Cappelloni applies evidence-based teaching strategies and best practices that support the developmental needs of young children, different learning styles, and individual interests, needs, and abilities. Students are encouraged to explore, discover, question, and communicate what they know, understand, and are curious about, emphasizing the pillars of Engagement, Exploration, and Exposure.
